The Telangana Government decided to appoint Law Associates to fight several Court cases. This could be possibly the first instance in the country.
The said initiative was possibly taken due to set backs in Court and accusations that are passed against Higher Officials by the High Court in several cases in recent times.
These law associates will be of help in assisting prosecutors, government pleaders and secretaries of departments in cases where government stands to be a party.
Initially the Law Associates will be appointed in about 30 Major Departments in the Secretariat, a Senior Law Officer stated. Further, if the experiment works, then more number of law associates will be hired to work in different departments.
A Senior Law Department Official said, “These associates will act as liaisoning officers among the Government and the Government Pleaders and the Advocate General Office. An appointment notification has been released. They’ll be hired on contractual basis.”
The Government too is in the favour of such appointments as in many cases the State has not been able to file counters and appeals where its interest were involved.
District Collectors and Secretaries of various Districts are being summoned by the High Court for not implementing Court’s verdict and for Contempt of Court.
