The Supreme Court granted Bail to a businessman was accused of having some connections with the ₹ 3,500 Crore Bike Bot Scam.

The Apex Court also asked to deposit an amount of Rs. 10 crores as a “pre-condition” for relief.

A Bench headed by Justice A.M. Khanwilkar was to be abided by the terms and conditions imposed on him by Allahabad High Court, which granted him Bail in June this year.

The Allahabad High Court granted him bail after observing that the businessman, Dinesh Pandey didn’t have any name in the FIR and he wasn’t a director, office bearer or manager of the private firm which had launched the Bike Bot scheme which allegedly defrauded lakhs.

Dinesh’s lawyer said before the Top Court that he has not been released, as the police had come up with new FIRs, which were not disclosed to him earlier.

While granting him relief the Court directed both the UP Police as well as Delhi Police to follow all the guidelines stated by the High Court.

“Accordingly, for the reasons mentioned in the order dated July 6, 2021, of this court… we direct the respondents (state of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi) to release the petitioner on bail forthwith on the terms and conditions specified in the bail order passed by the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad in respect of the concerned cases and for that matter even future cases to be registered, which shall be done only after taking prior permission of this court,” stated the Bench.

The Bench also comprising Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice CT Ravikumar further stated, “The petitioner shall abide by the terms and conditions stated by the high court. In addition, he shall deposit a sum of ₹ 10 crores in the registry of this court which may remain invested in a Fixed Deposit Receipt with a nationalized bank, until further orders. That will be a pre-condition for grant of bail.”

While the lawyers of Pandey argued that he has nothing to do with the Bike Bot Scam, the Court said to cooperate in the further investigation.

The bnch said that it will hear the applications filed in the matter on October 1.
