Supreme Court from hearing a plea of transferring all inquiries to an independent agency outside Maharashtra, by Former Mumbai Police Commissioner.

While the case was scheduled to be heard by a vacation bench of Justices Vineet Saran and Gavai, the plea was requested to be heard by a different bench because Gavai had a problem with it.

Senior advocate Puneet Baali, appearing on behalf of said the inquiries against the former top cop is a “complete witch-hunt” and are in “complete transgression” of the orders passed by the apex court as well as the Bombay High Court.

Param was removed from his post of Mumbai Police after he leveled allegations of corruption and misconduct against then Home Minister and senior NCP leader Anil Deshmukh.

Param was later made the General Commander of Maharashtra State Home Guard.
