The Supreme Court on Friday has allowed the applications which were filed by the States of Maharashtra, Meghalaya and Odisha asking for the extension of time for publishing the results of the class 12th state board exams.

In June the Apex Court had ordered the state boards to publish the result of class 12th till July 31st. The result should be on the basis of the alternate assessment schemes which were adopted for the evaluation of the students as written examinations were cancelled due to COVID-19.

The State of Maharashtra filed an application seeking 7 days of extension beyond the above-mentioned date. Though, the Maharashtra board declared its result on August 3.

Whereas the State of Odisha and the Meghalaya Board of School Education asked for two weeks extensions and one week of extension respectively, for the students of Arts and Vocational streams.

The division bench comprising of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari allowed these extension applications, after observing that there was no objection put upon them
