Supreme Court will view after Diwali vacation a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking that as COVAXIN has not received World Health Organization (WHO) approval, people who have received COVAXIN shots are to be re-vaccinated with COVISHEILD.

Justice D Y Chandrachud Observed, “It has been reported that Bharat Biotech has submitted the latest round if clarifications to WHO. The Decision is expected to come. We are reading the newspaper just like you. Let’s wait after Diwali. If the authorisation from the WHO comes, there will be no difficulty.”

The Advocate appearing for the Petitioner informed the Court that inconvenience being caused to students especially those travelling abroad, finds it difficult to do so because of the lack of recognition to COVAXIN.

Justice D Y Chandrachud remarked to the above statement that, “How can we say that people who have received shots 1 of vaccine once now be subject to another vaccine? We don’t know what the complications will be. We can’t play with people’s lives. We don’t know what the repercussions will be.”

The Bench then posted the Matter after the Diwali break.
