A Special Court deputed to hear CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) and ED (Enforcement Directorate) cases in Hyderabad has summoned the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and others to appear in the Court on September 22 in the case related to Vanpic scam.

Besides the Chief Minister, the Court has also summoned YSRCP MPs Vijasai Reddy, Mopidevi Venkata Ramana, and MLA Dharmana Prasada Rao to appear in front of the Court.

Businessmen Nimmagadda Prasad and Nimmagadda Prakash, India Cements, Bharati Cement, Jagati Publication and 12 other businesses groups who all are named under the case have also been summoned to appear in the Court.

The Court had summoned all of them after the ED had filed its Chargesheet concerning the Vanpic case.

In the aforementioned case, there were irregularities found in the Vadrarevu and Nizampatnam ports and industrial corridor (Vanpic) project which was sanctioned during the YS Rajsekhar Reddy regime in united Andhra Pradesh.

The then government run by YS Jagan’s father had signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding ) with UAE-based Ras Al Khaimah and Nimmagadda Prasad’s Matrix Enport in 2008.

The CBI has contended that Prasad had invested a massive amount of Rs 842 crore in various companies which were owned by Jagan, including Rs 450 crore in Jagathi Publications.
