Kalyani Singh, the accused in the Sippy Sidhu murder, was granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

In the 2015, Sippy Sidhu murder case [Kalyani Singh vs. CBI], the Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted bail to Kalyani Singh, the daughter of Justice Sabina, a judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

On Tuesday morning, Justice Sureshwar Thakur issued the order. On September 2, 2022, the solitary judge reserved the decision.

The order copy is awaited.

The petitioner had argued that she had an undeniably fixed address, and her actions over the years had left no reason to believe that she was trying to evade the law, tamper with the evidence, or interfere in any other way with the investigation.

As a result, there was no valid reason to hold the petitioner in custody. Singh was detained for her claimed involvement in the shooting gunman, Sippy Sidhu’s death.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) previously testified in a Chandigarh Court that she and Sidhu were involved in a relationship that later soured and resulted in the murder.

Singh was detained by the CBI on June 15, 2022, and after six days of questioning, she was taken to Sector 51 Model Jail.

According to the CBI case, Sidhu and Singh were in a relationship and she intended to wed him, but Sidhu’s parents rejected the plan.

In the meantime, Sidhu embarrassed Singh and her family greatly by disclosing some offensive photos of Singh to her parents and friends.

The CBI claims that after asking Sidhu to meet her there, she and another attacker shot and killed him there on September 20, 2015, in Sector 27 of Chandigarh.
