Shiv Sena seeks disqualification of 16 rebel MLAs which includes Eknath Shinde

The Shiv Sena has sought the disqualification of 12 legislators after they participated in a rebellion led by disgruntled leader Eknath Shinde leading to a survival crisis of the Uddhav Thackeray government in Maharashtra.

Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant said that Shinde is among the lawmakers whom the party is seeking to be disqualified. He said that “This is a legal battle as well as a political fight now”.

Reports on the Sena’s move emerged hours after NCP President Sharad Pawar said that the fate of Maha Vikas Aghadi fovernment will be decided on the floor of the assembly where the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress will prove its majority in a trust vote.

The party rebels are currently camping at a luxury hotel in Guwahati. Six more MLAs and an MLC from Maharashtra were flown to the hotel from Surat in Gujarat. Both the States of Gujarat and Assam are currently governed by BJP.

According to reports more than 37 rebel MLAs of the Shiv Sena are camping with Shinde at the Hotel in Guwahati.
