Nupur Sharma, a suspended BJP spokesperson, is seeking to revive her earlier petition in the Supreme Court on Tuesday which she withdrew in face of constant caustic comments from judges.

She is seeking protection from arrest in nine FIRs filed against her for alleged blasphemous comments and the clubbing of all of them in Delhi, where the first FIR was lodged.

A Bench of Justices Surya Kant and JB Pardiwala, who had made remarks on her , is scheduled to hear her fresh application seeking permission to withdraw her request to withdraw the petition as recorded in the order dated July 1, and requesting court to hear the matter on merit.

After a day of the SC Bench’s observations, Kolkata police on July 2 issued a ‘lookout circular against her and that sharma feared immediate arrest’.

Sharma said that a khadim of the Ajmer dargah had threatened the petitioner’s life by calling upon every Muslim to cut her throat in a video message and declaring to gift his home to anyone who brought the petitioner’s head to him.

Justices Surya Kant and JB Pardiwala unleashed a barrage of criticisms against Nupur Sharma on July 1, alleging that she ignited the country with her allegedly blasphemous comments and tore down the social fabric, which led to the unfortunate incident in Udaipur.

Curiously, a few days later, another vacation Bench headed over by Justice Indira Banerjee had granted relief to a television anchor who had also faced multiple FIRs for airing a doctored video against Congressman Rahul Gandhi.

The anchor had apologized and deleted the video. Sharma also had apologized for her comments, but the Supreme Court did not take that into consideration.
