SC Suo Moto Limitation Extension Ended on February 28; Limitation to resume from 1st March

The Supreme Court Of India passed the latest order regarding the Suo Moto extension in view of the Omicron Surge having ended with Effect from February 28, which means the limitation will resume running from March 1.

Keeping in mind the recent Surge In the COVID-19 cases due to the omicron variant , the SC on 10 January ,2022 had extended the limitation period for filing cases in the Courts and tribunals .

The Bench comprising the Chief Justice of India, N.V. Ramana, Justices L. Nageswara Rao and Surya Kant accepted the request made by the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA) to restore the orders extending the limitation .

As the second wave subsided, on 25 September 2021, the Supreme Court recalled its order dated 27April, 2021 and decided that the extension of the limitation period .

We, therefore, restore the order dated 23rd March, 2020 and in continuation of the order dated 8th March, 2021 direct that the period(s) of limitation” said the Bench.
