The Supreme Court has issued notices and sought responses from CBI and the ED (Enforcement Directorate) regarding criminal cases against Actor Mohammed Naseer who is in jail from 2019 relating to the cases filed by CBI and the ED.
The actor was convicted under the offences of cheating and siphoning funds in the name of Ponzi schemes.
The Bench comprising of Justices AS Bopanna and Vikram Nath sought replies from the agencies within 3 weeks after the accused actor’s lawyer, Siddharth Bhatnagar stated that the Odisha High Court reserved the bail plea and was yet to deliver an order.
On July 20, 2009 the actor was arrested and was granted bail on the same day. However, he was arrested on 2019, after the CBI filed a chargesheet against him.
