The three Judges Bench of Justice D Y Chandrachud, Justice Surya Kant and Justice P S Narsimha in Case of Purchase Scam of AgustaWestland VVIP Helicopter directed the Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate to respond as accused Christian Michael James files Bail Application.

In December 2018, Michael James was extradited from Dubai.

The Counsel representing Michael argued that he had spent more than half of the punishment which will be granted if he would have found Guilty.

The principle on which the decision of the Bail is based is that more than half time spent by accused in Jail of total sentence he would have got if found guilty and so Bail should be granted.

The arguments made by Michael’s Counsel was found valid and so Additional Solicitor General was asked to file Reply in the Case.
