SC dismisses plea of transfer Guru Granth Sahib sacrilege case

SC has dismissed the plea to transfer the Guru Granth Sahib sacrilege case trial.

A bench comprising Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul of the Supreme Court dismissed a plea to replace the 2015 Bathinda Guru Granth Sahib sacrilege case trial outside of the state of Punjab.

The main body behind this case, Manohar Lal, was shot dead by two people in an open fire at Bhagta Bhai Ka in Bathinda.

Jimmy, now on bail, was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in 2018.

The main agenda of the FIR was after a “bir” of Guru Granth Sahib was stolen from a Gurdwara at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala, the FIR was registered under section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) and section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.

The Dera members have approached the Apex court for the transferal of this case trial because their life is under threat.
