Rajasthan HC to Bar Council: Punish him instead of hauling up for Contempt

The Rajasthan High Court has condemned the conduct of an advocate who insulted the court during the hearing and has left the decision on Bar Council thereby requesting to take strict action by punishing the advocate instead of just hauling him up for Contempt of Court.

The request comes after the single-judge bench of Justice Devendra Kachhwaha rejected a bail application of an accused considering the gravity of the offence he was accused of.

Just after the rejection of the bail application, the counsel on the behalf of petitioner Ramawatar Singh started making inappropriate comments on the High Court thereby disturbing the dignity and decorum of the High Court.

The public prosecutors of State, Union and even the Court staff were shocked with the behavior of the advocate wherein he crossed all the limits with his disrespect towards the Judge.

In conclusion, the Court stated that appropriate actions must be taken by the Bar Council of Rajasthan to make sure that the public faith, trust and respect for the entire judicial system are maintained thereby requesting to punish him severely rather than initiating only the contempt proceedings.
