The Division Bench of Punjab and Haryana High Court extended the life of all interim orders and directions till 15th September.
This decision was taken by the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Mr Ravi Shankar Jha and Justice Arun Palli.
The reason behind passing such a decision was the alarming increase in the Covid-19 cases all across the country.
Senior Advocate Anupam Gupta who was appointed as Amicus Curiae before the Court made several submissions regarding the present situation of Covid-19 in India as well as several other countries.
Based on these submissions the Court observed that “Learned Amicus Curiae has placed before this Court certain material, highlighting the prevailing situation in India as well as other countries due to the pandemic (COVID-19), which is germane to the issues that are being examined and also if the interim arrangements/orders made by this Court need to be continued”.
On 30th June the Division Bench had decided to extend the life of Interim Orders till 31st August subject to the present scenario of Covid-19.
The next hearing on this matter will take place on 15th September.
