The Punjab and Haryana High Court stayed the arrest of former AAP leader Kumar Vishwas over ‘inflammatory statements’ against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, terming it a fit case to prevent the ‘abuse of the process of law’.

Vishwas arrested by Punjab Police after the complaint registered against him that he and AAP supporters were called Khalistani.

Vishwas has more to the high court seeking the cancellation of the First Information Report registered against him.

High Court Observed that the Panel Provisions under which the Petitioner stands arraigned are not Prima Facie made against him.

The submission that the First Information Report is politically motivated cannot be ruled out,” the Court said.

The court also said that “a perusal of the complaint and the investigation do not point out that the interviews of the Petitioner triggered the incident.”
