A man accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act died after jumping from the sixth floor of the Court building on August, 31.

Raviraj, aged 31 was a resident of Kinya near Ullal, Mangalore and was accused of touching a 12-year-old girl inappropriately.

Raviraj was arrested for an offence under Section 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act.

It was observed that Raviraj took this extreme step because of mental trauma as he was claiming the case to be fake.

Bar Council President Advocate Sachin stated, “Raviraj was claiming that a fake case was filed against him. He was upset. POSCO cases under section 8 and 12 were registered against him. He had applied for bail and there was a possibility of getting the same in a day.”

This is the second case of death at the court complex.

On March 25, 2017, Praveen, a Head Constable, was accused under POCSO Act, died after he jumped from the fourth floor of the same Court Building.

Praveen was also accused of recording a video of a 12-year old and her mother while they were bathing from his phone.
