A Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court in Patna on Monday awarded capital punishment for conspiring and executing Serial Blasts at a rally in Gandhi Maidan on October 27, 2013 to Four Accused SIMI (The Students’ Islamic Movement of India) Terrorists.

The Four awarded with Death Sentence were: Haider Ali, Numan Ansari, Mujibullah Ansari and Imtiyaz Ansari.

Further the Court Administration of Justice-XV Gurvinder Singh Malhotra also sentenced Life Imprisonment to Umer Siddique and Azharuddin Qureshi, Ten years’ Imprisonment to Ahmad Hussain and Mohammad Feroz Aslam and Seven years’ Imprisonment to Mohammad Ifteqaar Alam.

Furthermore, the Court condemned Fine of Rs. 90,000 on Haider, Numan and Mujibullah and Rs 80,000 on Imtiyaz Ansari under relevant Sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) including 120B (Criminal Conspiracy), 302 (Murder), 121 (Waging war against Indian Government), the Explosive Substances Act and The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The Court also slammed a Fine on Umer and Azharuddin worth Rs 60,000 each under relevant Sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act while Ahmad and Ifteqaar were Fined Rs 10,000 each under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Section 201 IPC respectively.

Six Serial Blasts with the help of timers had taken place inside and around the Gandhi Maidan were Modi as Gujarat Chief Minister was addressing the rally for his Prime Minister candidature for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

It was further highlighted that the Blasts were planned to assassinate Modi via Suicide Bombing and that fourteen more unexploded Time Bombs were recovered from around the ground later.

Special Public Prosecutor (NIA) Lallan Prasad Sinha stated that the Court awarded Death Penalty to the four after observing that their act of carrying time bombs and also argued that he had further demanded Death penalty for Umer and Azharuddin as well but Court handed over Life Imprisonment.

It was highlighted that a Juvenile was also engaged in the Serial Blast Case, the Case is handled by Juvenile Justice Board.

Haider, Imtiaz, Umer, Azharuddin and Mujibullah are already serving Life Imprisonment in Mahabodhi Temple serial blast Case of July 7, 2013.
