Online Rummy: Kerala High Court issues notice to Virat Kohli, Thammanna & Aju Varghese

The Kerala High Court issued a notification to Virat Kohli, Indian cricket team captain and Actors Thammanna and Aju Varghese on a petition seeking the ban on online rummy as the victims alleged that the brand ambassadors play an important role in influencing the youth.

The Kerala High Court further issued a notification to the state government and called for the state’s response.

The petitioner submitted that several people had lost their lives after being in enormous debts due to such online games.

Vineeth, aged 27 had committed suicide at Kuttichal, Thiruvananthapuram recently, and had lost Rs. 21 lakhs.

Sajesh, aged 32 told IANS, “The intervention of the honourable High court is welcome as I know that several people have lost a huge amount of money playing this online game and I myself have lost more than Rs 6 lakh.”

Thereby requesting the court to ban online rummy in India.
