Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that women in India are reaching new levels and refuting old myths.

“Wherever you look, women are dispelling old myths,” He said in his monthly Mann Ki Baat address. Women are reaching new heights in various fields in our country today, from Parliament to Panchayat.

“In the Army, too, Daughters are now taking Responsibilities in new and Bigger Roles and are Protecting the Country,” he said while referring to women personnel flying modern Fighter Planes in this year’s Republic Day parade

The country also removed restrictions on the admission of daughters to Sainik Schools, and daughters were enrolling in those schools across the country, he said, adding that a large number of start-ups are led by women.

He emphasized the success of the Social Campaign ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao,’ which he said had resulted in an improvement in the sex ratio.

He argued for the preservation of mother tongues, citing them as part of the Country’s Ancient culture and heritage. He also emphasized Ayurveda’s growing popularity.

He emphasized the importance of collective efforts for social causes, mentioning a mass movement called Mission Jal Thal that is currently taking place in Srinagar.

The movement aims to clean and restore Srinagar’s Lakes and Ponds. The mission’s focus is on “Kushal Saar” and “Gil Saar.”
