NCB seized drugs and ₹20 lakh, intercepts three involved in Mumbai

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) launched an operation on the 17th and 18th of April, where they intercepted three people involved in drug peddling at various locations in Mumbai.

A total of 43 kilograms of cannabis, 220 grams of Mephedrone and ₹20,05,000 were seized by the NCB. Two cases have been registered as of now.

In the first operation conducted, NCB Mumbai seized around 165 grams of Mephedrone drug from the possession of a Sarfaraz Qureshi, who is a resident of Agripada area. Upon searching his house, more than ₹2 lakh earned as drug proceed was recovered.

On interrogation, Qureshi revealed that the drug Mephedrone had been supplied to him by a resident of Nagpada area named Sameer Suleman Shama.

The NCB team found 54 grams of Mephedrone and almost ₹18 lakh believed to be drug proceed in Shama’s house. However, Shama was not found and efforts to trace him are underway.

Qureshi was previously been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act by the anti-narcotics cell of Mumbai Police.

In a second operation, on the basis of intelligence inputs, the NCB seized 43 kilograms of cannabis from a house in Badlapur city. Sunny Pardeshi and Ajay Nair, two suspects were nabbed.

Upon interrogation, the suspect revealed that the consignment of cannabis had been purchased from a person named Kunal Kadu in Odisha. The agency is now investigating the drug supply chain in Odisha.

A Zonal Director of NCB Mumbai, Sameer Wankhade, said the agency is taking stringent legal actions against offenders and is keeping its eye on the previous drug offenders such as Pathan Gang and Chikna Company in Dongri.

Wankhade stated, ‘NCB Mumbai is expanding its intelligence network to identify drug traffickers operating on the dark web and social media websites’.
