The operations were carried out based on intelligence provided by Mumbai zonal unit under the leadership of zonal director Sameer Wankhede. Sameer Wankhede had intercepted seven foreigners and nabbed them with numerous types of drugs in last three months.

Recently, NCB also arrested actor Ajaz Khan linking his involvement in a drug module which is run by drug lord Farooque Batata and his son Shadab. Ajaz was arrested based on the information collected from Shadab’s interrogation who was recently arrested with drugs by NCB.

Although Ajaz denied any connection with the drug module, certain disclosures by him have led to fresh raids in Mumbai by the NCB. Further investigations aim at finding the suppliers, financers and users of the drugs and their possible links with the entertainment industry.

The probe in the drug world of Mumbai was initiated with the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput which led to the arrests or interrogations of several prominent Bollywood personalities.
