A legal move by concerned Muslim group of Jamia Nagar ensured stoppage of damage to the premises of an Old Temple in the locality by the Delhi High Court.

The Court interfered after the Jamia Nagar 206 Ward Committee approached it and highlighted the encroachment and demolition of the only temple in the area, which also included Dharamshala at Johri Farm.

The Petition on the Delhi High Court claimed that the builders are trying to demolish Temple with Illegal means and to erect a building and sell flats. The Builder wanted to create monetary benefits by creating communal tension in the locality.

The Delhi High Court Bench of Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva ordered, “Police shall ensure that there is no illegal unauthorized encroachment on the said area and the area which is shown as Mandir in the layout plan shall be preserved and protected. They shall also ensure that there is no Law-and-Order issue at the spot.”
