Mumbai Court Issued Summons to Sanjay Raut Regarding Defamation Complaint by BJP Leader Kirit Somaiya’s Wife

Mazgaon Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Mumbai issued summons to Shiv Sena Leader Sanjay Raut after complaints filed by Medha Somaiya, wife of BJP Leader Kirit Somaiya.

In her complaint, Somaiya alleged that Sanjay had made false and defamatory claims against her and her husband. He had also accused them of being involved a 100 Crore scam.

She sought relief under Section 499 (making or publishing any imputation) & Section 500 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code.

The Court has summoned Raut to the court on 4th July. The complaint stated that the malicious comments were made around April 15, 2022. Then the alleged statements were published and circulated through print and electronic media.

Somaiya’s through her Lawyer, Vivekanand Gupta urged the court to begin proceeding against Raut on the defamation charges.
