The acting Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjay Pandey, wrote to the State Government saying that he is recusing himself from conducting two inquiries against the former City Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.

Pandey sent the letter after Singh had alleged the acting DGP offered to mediate in his stand-off with the State Government.

Singh had recorded the conversation with Pandey, in which Pandey allegedly offered to mediate between him and the State Government.

Singh attached the transcripts of the conversation to the petition he had filed in the Bombay High Court against the Government’s decision to conduct two inquiries.

Singh challenged the two orders, which were passed on 1st April, that directed a preliminary inquiry by Pandey under service rules and on 20th April, which included an inquiry into allegations made by a police inspector against Singh.
