A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the state’s 35 private nursing institutions’ eligibility for recognition and other matters has been ordered by the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s Gwalior bench. A plea for recognition from these educational institutions was being heard by a division bench of Justices Rohit Arya and MR Phadke.

According to MP Additional Advocate General MPS Raghuvanshi, the High Court bench ordered on Wednesday a CBI investigation into the operation of 35 private nursing colleges that did not have recognition from the appropriate authorities but unlawfully admitted students for the 2019–20 academic session.

In order to get their institutes recognised by appropriate authorities, these colleges petitioned the HC last year, Raghuvanshi noted. He stated that the hearing was attended by Dr. Jiteen Shukla of the Medical Education Department, Colonel Sarabjit Singh Kaur of the Indian Nursing Council, and Deepak Purohit of the CBI’s Deputy Superintendent of Police.

“Students were admitted to the 35 colleges despite their lack of recognition. These institutions lack necessary facilities. During proceedings, a number of anomalies in the way the universities operated had been revealed” said the additional attorney general. Raghuvanshi stated that the case’s subsequent hearing will take place in January.

Hence, the Court ordered the CBI probe in the matter to gain more relevant proofs.
