Madhya Pradesh High Court directed its IT wing to provide web links to its virtual proceedings on High Court’s website so that they can be accessed by citizens.

The direction was issued by the High Court in response to a plea filed by four journalists seeking permission for live streaming of court proceedings.

“The writ petitions are disposed of by taking note of the resolution of the E-Court Committee of the High Court..in respect of sharing the link of live streaming of Court proceedings conducted via video conferencing through the website of the High Court in one-way mode and directing the IT Wing of the High Court to give effect to the said resolution without any unnecessary delay.” Madhya Pradesh High Court’s  direction dated June 17 reads.

The present matter was on June 14th placed before the E-Court Committee of the High Court which agreed with providing links for the Court’s virtual proceedings.

However, the Court cited the judgment of Swapnil Tripathi v. Supreme Court of India case and stated that the restrictions laid down in the judgment will be applicable here as well.
