In link with the abusive call matter, Kotak Mahindra Bank said this on Sunday that it is going to pursue “legal proceedings” against co-founder and managing director of the fintech Bharatpe Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri.

The lender accepted that the couple had sent it a formal notice on October 30, but did not elaborate on the purposes for that. As per media reports, the pair alleged the bank of failure to defend financing and share allocation in the Nykaa initial public offering (IPO), and decided to seek Rs 500 crore in damages.

“We did receive this notice and responded accordingly at the moment, which include recording our opposition to Grover’s derogatory language.” Suitable legal action has been pursued, according to a statement to the media from the city-based lender.

It did not, even so, give more detail on the specific point for which the legal action has been pursued.

When tried contacting, a Bharatpe spokesperson refused to respond on the developments. Last week, an audio clip of a couple allegedly talking to what initially appeared to be a relationship manager from a bank started to surface on social media.

The man’s voice yells insults, and another male voice is heard calming him down. It was postulated whether the Grover couple was in the viral video.

Grover stated that the audio is a hoax created by “some scamster attempting to extract money funds (USD 2,40,000 bitcoins)” and that he “continued to refuse to buckle.”
