The Kerala government has refused to implement the controversial farm laws in the state and stated that the state government would move to the Supreme Court against the same this week.

“The state government is ready to face any action to be taken by the central government,” said the state’s agricultural minister.

He claimed that the central government is trying to invade upon the authorities of the state government enshrined in the constitution.

He also stated that the recent controversial farm laws would take away the food security and independence of the country, will get suppressed by corporate giants, which would lead to the downfall of the Public Distribution System.

Several rounds of negotiation between farmers and central have failed.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had urged the Centre to “listen” to the protesting farmers and reasonably settle the matter.

The farmers are protesting at Delhi border points for the last 11 days against the new farm laws.

CM tweeted, “The farmers are the lifeblood of the country and said it was the time to stand with them.”

Protesting against the farm laws, the ten Central Unions and over 300 farmers and agricultural workers organizations declare Bharath bandh on December 8.
