The Kerala High Court on Thursday warned the state that stringent action motion needs to be initiated towards persons who attack health care workers.

Justice Devan Ramchandran and Justice Kauser Edappagath observed that the state is not taking the matter seriously. The Court was informed that only 28 cases were investigated out the 270 registered cases.

The District Court has directed the Director General of Police to look  into the matter without any further delay.

Recently, the Additional Director General of Police had submitted a report of facts in the review petition that was filed by the Kerala Private Hospital Association stating about the attacks on the health care workers by the family members or the bystanders etc.

The above statement also included the instances where women doctors and nurses have been attacked, thereby making it unsafe and difficult at the same time for the health sector to work adequately.

In the remaining listening of the matter, the petitioner submitted that none of those provisions of the Kerala Health Care Service Person and Health Care Institutions Act were implemented to its core, rending such persons to attack without any fear of law.
