Kerala HC Grants Anticipatory Bail to Ex-Legislator P C George in Hate Speech Case

A Single-Judge Bench of Justice P Gopinath granted Anticipatory Bail to the Former Legislator P C George by imposing a precondition that he should not make any Controversial or Communal Remarks.

Earlier the Ernakulam District Court denied to grant him Anticipatory Bail and then he moved to High Court.

He was charged for giving Hate Speech in Hindu Priest meet. The charges against him are Section 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) and 295 (injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) of Indian Penal Code.

Another Case was filed in same district for criticising one particular community. Police has opposed the Bail.

In Ananthapurai Hindu Mahasammelan he spoke about how Muslim hoteliers mix drugs with tea to make people of other communities impotent.

He further said that many Christian girls are trapped in ‘Love Jihad’.

For 25 years he was representing Poonjar Constituency, started with Kerala Congress party and now in 2017 he formed his party Kerala Janapaksham allied with National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The Court directed the Police to Probe the two Cases against him.

In 2021, Election he was defeated in the Assembly Elections.
