The Karnataka High Court has upheld the decision to terminate the employment of eight CISF constables in connection with an alleged incidence of gang rape and blackmail.
Their discharge was caused by allegations that the accused had gang-raped and blackmailed the wife of one of their coworkers. Later, they filed an ap5peal with the High Court challenging the CISF Disciplinary Authority’s firing decision.
The CISF Disciplinary Authority had stated that “discipline and morality are paramount in the organisation and the act done by the accused could not be forgiven. The act which has taken place will have negative consequences on the husband who was away on duty”.
According to the authority, the accused individuals’ actions would also make other employees uneasy who are required to leave their families behind and travel long distances for work.
It was argued that from the statement of the complainant recorded in the criminal case “it was evident that she was a consenting party to the alleged incident.”
The High Court stated that the incidents like this will bring down the morality of police constables and dismissal order by CISF is appropriate.
