The CBI had arrested Eswara Reddy who is Joint Drug Controller as apprehended by CBI has caught red handed while taking bribe of 4 lakh rupees in exchange of clearing the diabetic injection ‘Insulin Aspart’.
The complaint came to CBI that one officer is asking for bribe for giving an approval to the medicine.
The CBI had firstly collected all the information regarding the exchange and then set the trap to catch the officer. The ‘Insulin Aspart’ injection was made Biocon Biologicals. The middle man came to the spot where exchange of bribe was going to take place he handed over 4 lakh rupees from the side Biocon Biologicals.
The CBI arrested the officer when he accepted the bribe from the middle man.
CBI said, “A case was registered against a Joint Drug Controller (India) (JDC), CDSCO Headquarters, New Delhi and others including Directors, Associate Vice President & Head-National Regulatory Affairs (NRA) of separate private companies, two based at New Delhi and another at Bengaluru; Assistant Drug Inspector (ADI), CDSCO, New Delhi and other unknown officials of CDSCO, New Delhi & unknown others.”
It was alleged that officer demanded 9 lakh rupees in exchange of a fovourable report about the injection. Even the accused company tried to undue influence the Central Drugs Standard Control officers.
The accused tried to relinquish the Phase III trial of the Insulin Aspart injection and agreed to pay 9 lakh rupees in lieu of good report of the injection.
The trap spread by CBI leads to the arrest of the Joint Drug Controller of Central Drugs Standard Control when he was taking bribe from Director of the accused Delhi based Company.
The documents and article showing the guilt got confiscated by the CBI through searches made in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Bengaluru and Patna.
