The Government of Jammu & Kashmir on 20th May, 2021 ordered for suspension of DFO Forest Division Jammu IFS officer Alok Kumar Maurya over alleged delinquency of duties and corresponding failures on compliance of the High Court’s directions in relation to encroachment to Forest Land.

The Government order no 59 JK (FST) of 2021 dated 19.05.2021 reads that a PIL is pending before the High Court and during the course of trial despite of repetitive orders issued regarding encroachment on forest lands where the Forest Department was directed to submit details of the person in unauthorised occupation of land and to upload the same on Forest Department and take steps to evict the forest land and the authorities had failed to do so.

Adding further the order stated that AK Maurya has faltered in performing his legitimate duties, as Divisional Forest Officer, for retrieving and safeguarding the encroached Forest Lands, including retrieval and restoration of the Forest Lands from the clutches of the identified largest encroachers.

Though the enquiry in the matter is pending but DFO Alok Kumar has been place under suspension for dereliction of duties and failure to comply with High Court’s directions.

However, He would remain attached with the office of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & HoFF, J&K during the suspension period.
