Public interest litigations (PILs) involving allegations of money laundering and office of profit against the chief minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, and his aides were heard by the Jharkhand High Court.

The 5th of July has been set as the next hearing date by the court.

Soren allegedly acquired a mining lease in his name while serving as chief minister, according to petitioner Shiv Shankar Sharma. He claimed in a different petition that the CM and his close associates are tied to a number of sham firms.

Sharma’s attorney Rajiv Kumar requested a CBI investigation into the incident, claiming that such entities were just created on paper to launder illegally obtained money.

Soren was defended by Delhi-based senior Advocates Meenakshi Arora, while Kapil Sibbal appeared for the state government.
