Hamilton Homicide: Court orders Extradition of Man Accused after Homicide

The Court in Hungary had ordered the Extradition of a man Accused in the Hamilton, fled to Canada after the Homicide in Stoney Creek in the February.

The Metropolitan Court of Budapest stated that they had passed the Order to extradite Oliver Karafa but also asserted that the latter had filed the Appeal against the Order.

Oliver Karafa aged 28 is wanted on the International Arrest Warrant issued by the Courts in Ontario, Hungary.

He has been charged for Murder and Attempt to Murder and is been fighting extradition.

Karafa was accompanied with Yun (Lucy) Lu Li, 25, came back to Canada on 12 July.

Both the Accused belong to Toronto.

Shootings that happened in Arvin Avenue in Stoney Creek around 7:15 p.m E T on 28 February took the life of Tyler Pratt, 39 years.

After Tyler’s death warrants were issued to Arrest both the Accused.

Tyler Pratt was found dead at the scene whereas a woman aged 26 was found with brutal injuries and yet continues to recover.

The Officials claimed that Karafa and Li had moved to Eastern Europe within 24 hours of the firing. After the two roamed several countries such as Slovakia and Czech Republic, before finally took halt in Budapest.

The Metropolitan Court of Budapest on Saturday declared that Karafa was the shooter in the firing that took place in February.

Based on the information produced before the Court, it decided that all the conditions for extradition is met.

The Court asserted that “In the event of extradition the Canadian authorities may only bring the suspect before the courts in relation to the matters covered by this extradition request.”

The Court observed the Judgement is still due which will now be handed over to the Budapest Regional Court of Appeal, which will hear the appeal filed by Karafa.
