Snehal Upadhyay-

In the case of a mass ransomware attack that had affected several companies worldwide, the suspected hackers have demanded $70m for restoring all the data.

This demand was posted on a dark website which is extraordinarily being used by the REvil cybercrime gang. It’s a Russia based gang and is among one of the world’s most cybercriminal prolific extortionists.

REvil’s ransomware attack which was executed on Friday was one of the most dramatic in series of increasing attention-seeking hacks.

The gang targeted Kaseya, a Miami- based information technology firm. The group used their access and breach their client’s clients, coding a chain reaction which quickly made hang the computers of several firms worldwide and collected the important data.

The gang left encrypted files for the affected companies and also left an electronic message demanding ransom payments of thousands or millions of dollars.

The Cybersecurity experts rapidly blamed REvil for this attack and on Sunday statement acknowledging the public was given and told who was behind it.

Allan Liska from the Cybersecurity firm alleges that the hackers had bitten off more than they could chew.

Liska further says that “For all of their big talk on their blog, I think this got way out of hand and is a lot bigger than they expected.”
