Govt on Supreme Court Expansion: This Claim Is Fake

Recently, it was in the news that the Government has decided to open three branches of the Supreme Court in Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata, this message was basically being forwarded in WhatsApp.

The Government has said that this news is ought to be fake.

Press Information Bureau (PIB) has also posted a Tweet saying that “This claim is fake. No such decision has been taken by the government.”

The tweet from PIB also published the picture of the fake message.

The fake message stated that the government has decided to set three more benches of the Supreme Court in the metro cities, claiming it to be beneficial for the judicial system as well as for the people.

As it will be earlier to approach the Court for the people belonging to the regions and the burden of the Supreme Court will also get deduced as the cases will be divided between the four benches.

For example, it claimed a Supreme Court branch in Chennai would be helpful for people in the southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Karnataka. The message also claimed people in Tamil Nadu were congratulating the government “for taking this historic decision”.

Hence, the government says that the news is fake and it has not even discussed matters like this before.
