Former Minister M Manikandan arrested for allegedly raping Malaysian Woman

Former Tamil Nadu minister and AIADMK leader M Manikandan has been arrested in Bengaluru by Chennai City Police after a Malaysian woman levelled rape charges against him.

The Malaysian citizen’s complaint was lodged at women’s police station in Adyar. The Malaysian woman stated that she had been in a relationship with Manikandan for five years. Following the complaint Manikandan was booked under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code for alleged rape, causing miscarriage and cheating.

M Manikandan, the former Tamil Nadu minister approached the Madras High Court seeking Anticipatory Bail. He claimed that the accusations made against him are false and the evidences presented in favour to the complained are forged.

During an interview with a local Tamil channel, politician said that, he doesn’t know the women and this was a conspiracy to extort money from him and malign his image.

Manikandan’s plea for anticipatory bail was rejected by the Madras high Court and he had been absconding since then.

The Chennai City Police formed two special teams to nab him. The police also summoned politician’s driver and assistant for the inquiry. Later, he was apprehended by the special team in Bengaluru.
