The Farm Law Committee appointed by the Supreme Court had issued a public notice seeking comments, views and suggestions before 20th February 2021.

The Committee’s notice comes into light as a mechanism to protect the interests of Indian farmers. All the farmers’ associations, organizations, stakeholders engaged in agricultural and allied activities and other public are invited to share their opinions.

The same will be compiled into one report and will be submitted before the Supreme Court of India.

The Committee has provided two options for this purpose. One is to share via email: [email protected]. Secondly, the public may directly write their comments in the given portal: www.farmer.gov.in/sccommittee.

The Supreme Court on 12th January 2021 directed a Committee to be appointed to negotiate the three disputed farm laws with the farmers’ unions and the Centre.

The Committee comprises Pramod Kumar Joshi, Anil Ghanwat, and Ashok Gulati. Bhupinder Singh Mann, who was a part of the Panel earlier, had recently backed out.

Criticisms poured in, following the composition of the Committee stating that all the panel members supported the Farm Laws.

However, the Supreme Court disagreed with this and on 20th January 2021 reassured that the Committee’s purpose is only to report to the Apex Court and not to adjudicate.
