ED Opposes Conman Chandrashekhar Plea Seeking Transfer to Another Jail

The Vacation Bench of Justice C.T. Ravikumar and Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia was hearing the plea filed by the conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar who is seeking transfer from Tihar Jail to another jail outside Delhi citing the threat to his and his wife’s life.

The ED made a representation in the case through Solicitor General Tushar Mehta who submitted that since the Sukesh Chandrashekhar is involved in many money laundering cases so they (ED) want to intervene in the matter.

The Sukesh Chandrashekhar is charged with the offences such as deceiving people, money laundering and impersonating the public officials and now in Tihar Jail.

Sukesh Chandrashekhar and his wife both filed the plea together. The matter was decided to be heard on Tuesday.

ED submitted that he wanted to take advantage of loopholes and develop new system of to extort money as he was caught doing the offence from inside the Tihar Jail.

On June 17 Apex court said that, “In the facts and circumstances, without entering into the rival contentions, it would be appropriate to transfer the petitioners to some other jail so to allay the apprehension of all concerned. As requested, list on 20.06.2022 to enable the respondents to take a decision on the appropriate jail to which the petitioners can be transferred.”

Sukesh Chandrashekhar had gifted the expensive gifts to celebrities, purchased houses and bribed the police officials in Tihar Jail.

ED in Intervention Application submitted that Sukesh Chandrashekhar was expert coning people and using technology, if his plea of transfer will be accepted than he will do more crimes with perfection as he did this time by ruing the legal system and rules of prison.

The ED alleged that couple was behind the crime syndicate even they transferred huge sum to Hong Kong and Dubai when they were in prison. Even it was disclosed that he had personal office in Tihar Jail, strict action was taken against all the officers who are bribed by him for such facilities and in the interest of justice he should remain in Tihar Jail.
