ED Asked Rahul Gandhi to Appear for Questioning Today in Matter of National Herald

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has asked the Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi to appear before them on Monday for interrogation. This is the fourth round before this he was interrogated for the 30 hours.

This interrogation is in case of laundering money linked with National Herald Newspaper. The Congress party leaders are protesting against this action of ED because of which police detained them.

Earlier this interrogation was scheduled for June 17 but Rahul Gandhi made a request to ED to adjourn the questioning on some other day due to the medical condition of his mother Sonia Gandhi.

Sonia Gandhi was also asked to appear before ED but she was got down of COVID 19 infection and hospitalized for the same since June 12. However Sonia Gandhi was called on June 23 for questioning.

The Congress leaders announced to do a peaceful protest against the government for Agnipath Scheme in whole country. They alleged BJP of practicing vendetta politics by using these Central agencies against those who are against them or question them.

The Complaint was filed by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy in 2013 because of which Income Tax Department investigated Young Indian Pvt. Ltd. And found that there is some financial irregularities as Young Indian Pvt. Ltd. owned National Herald Newspaper.

The ED considered the matter and registered a case under Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The Congress Politician Jairam Ramesh tweeted in the evening that, “Tomorrow lakhs of Congress workers across the country will continue peaceful protests against the anti-youth Agnipath scheme & against Modi Govt’s vendetta politics targeting its leader Shri Rahul Gandhi. A Congress delegation will also meet Hon’ble Rashtrapati in the evening.”
