The state government said to the Bombay High Court that Maharashtra will have a policy for door-to-door COVID-19 vaccination for the elderly, differently-abled and for the people who are bedridden within a week.

A draft policy for the same was submitted by the state’s counsel, Geeta Shastri before the High Court bench consisting of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni on Tuesday.

“The state had constituted a special task force comprising experts and stakeholders to come up with such a policy,” said the state’s counsel.

The bench has accepted the submissions made by the state council.

“Prima facie, we are of the opinion that the task force is proceeding in the right direction. We, however, leave it to the task force to incorporate such measures which are beneficial for the health of the elderly and disabled citizens,” the Court said.

The Court further added that, “We hope that when we take up this PIL next, the state would be in a position to show us the approved guideline.”

The response made by the state government was on the notice issued by the High Court on a PIL which was filed by lawyer Dhruti Kapadia on the issue of giving door-to-door vaccination to an elderly, differently-abled and bedridden group of people.
