Four men were arrested from UP by the Delhi Police for allegedly abducting a placement agent from North-West Delhi.
Despite the payment of ransom money amounting ₹75,000 by his wife, the kidnapped man was not released by the abductors. The victim was rescued when the police traced him to Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh and the four men were arrested.
A call was received at Mahendra Park police station on previous Thursday reporting the abduction of 34-year-old Sahil Saxena and the demand of ransom by the criminals.
“The man’s wife Chitra said that on Wednesday around 8pm, her husband received a call from his colleague Negi and went to meet him at Moolchand, along with one Sonu Malhotra. Later, Chitra received a phone call from her husband, who told him that Negi and his friends had forcibly taken him to Firozabad and were demanding money for his release. Sahil told her to deposit Rs 50,000 in his account,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Usha Rangnani.
Chitra first deposited Rs 25,000 in his account and later again sent Rs 50,000 as told by her husband.
“After that, when Chitra tried to call her husband, his phone was switched off. On her statement, a case of abduction was registered,” the officer said.
“With the help of technical surveillance, their location was traced to Aligarh. In a late night raid, all four suspects were arrested and Sahil was rescued,” the officer further said.
The accused confessed the crime and the motive according to them behind the abduction was to get their money back as ransom amount as they all had transactions with Sahil in the past.
