Delhi HC seeks Govt reply on Home Covid Jab for Senior Citizens

A Bench comprising of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh on Tuesday issued notice on the plea seeking directions on respondents to put forth a helpline number for registration of Covid 19 vaccine. In Re Dhiraj Aggarwal v. Union of India

The Petitioner an 84-year-old woman who is mostly bedridden for the reason of suffering from arthritis stated that she is at a high risk of getting exposed to the covid 19 viruses if she visits the vaccination centre for vaccination.

Along with highlighting the difficulties faced by the old woman, the petition, moved through Advocate Dhiraj Aggarwal mentioned the cause of other fellow super senior and bedridden citizens like her who do not have the adequate facilities to get themselves registered on CoWin Application and thereby visit the Vaccination centres.

“Because it is an obligatory duty of the respondent no. I and 2 to take care of super senior and bedridden citizens so denying the vaccine by not introducing a helpline number for registration of covid-19 vaccine and a policy on urgent basis for door to door covid-19 vaccination for super senior and bedridden citizens in Delhi is against the fundamental right to life of a citizen”, the plea stated.
