Former AAP Councillor, Tahir Hussain filed a new bail petition in connection with the Delhi Riots case, and the Delhi High Court issued a notice.

Justice Rajnish Bhatnagar issued a notice, tagging the bail request with other pending bail petitions submitted by Tahir Hussain, which are scheduled for hearing on August 6, before Justice Yogesh Khanna.

Tahir Hussain was represented by Senior Advocate Mohit Mathur and Advocate Rizwan, while the State was represented by Special Public Prosecutor DK Bhatia.

The FIR was filed on the 4th of March, last year after Irshad Ali filed a complaint alleging that his rented business was looted on the 24th of February last year as a result of the riots that occurred in the National Capital.

In a related development, various High Court benches have given notice on Hussain’s bail petitions in connection with other FIRs lodged in the Delhi Riots Cases.

Justice Mukta Gupta had issued notice on the bail application, which was registered at Police Station Dayalpur, Delhi, for offences punishable under various sections of IPC and Sections 3 of the PDPP Act.

However, Justice Gupta, while issuing notice on the petition, placed the matter before Justice Khanna at the request of Mathur, who represented Hussain.

Justice Yogesh Khanna had already issued a notice on the bail plea, requesting that the status report from the Delhi Police be filed before the next date of hearing, which is August 6.

In addition, High Court has given notice of a petition filed by Hussain, challenging the UAPA allegations leveled against him in connection with the large conspiracy case involving the Delhi Riots, as well as seeking quashing of the sentence imposed in that case.
