In connection with the suspected Suicide of a Doctor in South Delhi in 2020, a Delhi Court ordered the Filing of Charges of Abetment of Suicide, Extortion, and other Offences against AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal.

On April 18, 2020, Dr. Rajendra Singh, aged 52, allegedly committed Suicide in Durga Vihar, South Delhi. Mr. Jarwal was supposedly held accountable for the Doctor’s Death in his Suicide note.

Singh, like Mr. Jarwal, has worked for the Delhi Jal Board in the water supply industry since 2007, and Police believe that the MLA and his colleagues Extorted money from other water-tanker owners, including the Doctor.

Mr. Jarwal’s close aide Kapil Nagar will also face Prosecution, according to Special Judge Geetanjli Goel, stated there was “Prima facie” enough Evidence against them.

“It is further seen that there is enough material on record to prima facie show that the Jarwal and Nagar extorted the deceased Dr. Rajinder by threatening to Kill him and his family if he did not pay the money for plying his tankers with DJB,” the Court noted.

The Court directed that charges be filed under IPC sections 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy), 386 (Extortion by putting a person in fear of Death or serious bodily harm), 384 (Extortion), 506 (Criminal intimidation), and 306 (Abetment of Suicide).
