The Orissa High Court has Ordered four Prisoners in a Murder case to serve the remaining amount of their Life Imprisonment sentences, over a decade after giving them Bail.

On March 10, 2008, a fast track Court in Balangir found Guilty and Sentenced all four to Life Imprisonment in a Murder Case at Larambah under Patnagarh police limits on June 27, 2005.

The Convicts were released on Bail after filing Criminal Appeals in the same year. They were released on Bail respectively- Kirtan Sahu and Babulal Sahu on February 20, 2009, and Chhotelal Sahu and Srikrishna Sahu on October 17, 2011. The Criminal Appeals had been currently on hold for years before being rejected on Tuesday.

The two-judge bench of Chief Justice S Muralidhar and Justice AK Mohapatra asserted that almost no basis is there for interference with the Trial Court’s well-reasoned Judgement ,as a result, the Appeals were Rejected.

“The Appellant’s Bail bonds are revoked, and they are Ordered to give up instantly and to start serving the rest sentences.” If they do not give up inside of two weeks, the Investigation team of the relevant police station will take action to apprehend and transport them to Judicial Custody,” the Bench Ordered.
