A Court in Delhi imposed a fine of Rs. 5000 on Delhi Police who were asking for Adjournment.
The Court taking a strict step also ordered an Enquiry to decide the officer who is responsible and ordered to deduct the money from his salary.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Arun Kumar Garg, passed the order when he found that the police have failed to follow the Order of April 12.
The Order issued by Court on April 12 directed the Investigating Officer (IO) to provide a copy of the Charge Sheet to one of the accused of the case, Komal Mishra.
In the recent hearing, the IO educated the Court stating that still the copy of charge sheet is not supplied to the Accused as he was not aware of the Order and asked for the Adjournment.
The Court who was already disappointed and irritated because of the irresponsible behaviour of city police, also noted that the IOs handling the case and Special public prosecutors (SPPs) who were representing the police did not appear on the fixed dates of hearing.
The Court also noted that when asked by senior officers, they appeared in the front of Court, they don’t even read the files before coming.
“The aforesaid conduct of the police as well as SPPs has already been brought to the notice of senior police officers including SHOs, ACPs, DCP (NE) and Commissioner of Police, Delhi, however, they have failed to ensure that such incidents do not take place anymore,” stated the Court.
The Court further directing stated that the delay is causing loss to the common public hence an inquiry must be done to account for the responsible person.
It should be noted here that the police officers were seeking Adjournment in a case of North East Delhi riots which showed multiple waves of bloodshed, property destruction, and rioting in North East Delhi.
