Recently, Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Vivek Tankha filed a Criminal Defamation complaint in Jabalpur Court against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP State President VD Sharma and the State Urban Development Minister Bhupendra Singh.

The Complaint alleged incorrect statements being made against Tankha with regards to the OBC reservations case in Supreme Court.

Former Advocate General Shashank Shekhar, representing Tankha, stated that the statements made by Shivraj Singh, VD Sharma and Bhupendra Singh were objectionable and tarnished the image of Tankha.

Apparently, the three of them blamed Tankha for the Supreme Court ruling last month that blocked Madhya Pradesh’s effort to hold panchayat elections in the State with reservation for other backward classes (OBC).

The BJP leaders earlier stated that the Supreme Court’s Verdict which led to the injustice against the OBCs was delivered because Congress leaders went to the Court in the first place.

Earlier, Congress leader Manmohan Nagar, president of Bhopal Jila Panchayat, moved to the Apex Court and claimed that the State Government violated constitutional provisions on reservation rotation and delimitation for Panchayat polls. He was represented by Tankha in the Apex Court.

The case filed in the Jabalpur District Court seeks an FIR be registered under Section 499 IPC against the three BJP leaders.
